JEFFERSON CITY — Former Missouri Gov. Warren E. Hearnes will lie in state in the Missouri Capitol on Wednesday.
Hearnes died Sunday night at his home in Charleston. He was 86. Hearnes was the first Missouri governor elected to consecutive terms and served from 1965 to 1973.
A family spokesman said Monday the former governor will lie in state in the Capitol Rotunda from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday. A memorial service is scheduled at 2 p.m. Wednesday, also in the Statehouse, and Gov. Jay Nixon is to speak.
Visitation will take place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Charleston. The funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at the church.
