COLUMBIA — U.S. Sen. Kit Bond released the following statement Monday on the passing of former Missouri Gov. Warren Hearnes.

“I am saddened by the loss of one of Missouri's leaders.

“Gov. Hearnes dedicated his life to public service and will leave behind a legacy of bipartisanship.

“I will always be grateful for Warren's help to a new young governor; in true Show Me style he ensured for me a smooth transition into the Governor's mansion.

“Linda and my thoughts and prayers are with Betty and the rest of the Hearnes family.”
