ST. PETERS — A St. Peters woman has been charged with trying to humiliate the teenage daughter of her ex-husband's girlfriend in the first test of Missouri's new "cyber bullying" law.
Prosecutors say 40-year-old Elizabeth A. Thrasher posted the 17-year-old's picture, e-mail address and cell phone number in the Casual Encounters section of the online marketplace Craigslist. They said the posting's language suggested the girl was seeking sexual contact.
They say Thrasher was bickering with the girl's mother and the girl sent Thrasher a MySpace message, telling her to grow up.
Thrasher has been charged with felony harassment for the Craigslist posting under the state's "Megan Meier" law. Her attorney says the posting was a practical joke and called the state law poorly written.
