COLUMBIA — A driver blamed faulty steering for a accident that injured three people in a two-car collision near 2735 Blackfoot that was reported at 4:29 p.m. All injuries appeared to be minor.
Kathleen Tayany of Columbia was driving a Honda Accord north on Blackfoot Road when she tried to negotiate a sharp, almost 90-degree turn. Unable to hold her lane, she collided head-on with a Toyota 4Runner. "The car has been driving oddly," Tayany said tearfully. "I was pulling and pulling."
Tayany's right leg was injured, and she was limping to get around. She was picked up by a friend at the scene and said she was going to a hospital.
Samantha Dempsey of Columbia was driving the Toyota. She was taken by ambulance to University Hospital for minor injuries. Jeff Winn, her boyfriend and a passenger in the Toyota, hit his head.
