COLUMBIA — On Sunday, Karis Community Church will begin meeting in The Tiger Hotel at 23 S. Eighth St., at 10 a.m. Previously, the congregation had been meeting at the Missouri Theatre, where it had begun worshiping in August 2008.
Pastor Kevin Larson said the hotel better fits the current needs of the congregation.
“The Tiger Hotel is a more intimate setting,” Larson said. “It’s easier to hear the singing.”
Larson said the church’s good relationship with The Tiger Hotel, the hotel’s central, easy-to-find location and the increase in rent at the Missouri Theatre were other considerations in the decision. Part of Karis Community Church’s mission is to serve the city of Columbia, and being downtown affords them that opportunity.
