COLUMBIA — A Columbia man was killed in a single-car crash late Friday night.
According to a Boone County Sheriff's Office news release, 34-year-old Christopher Elijah Robinson was driving south in the 3600 block of Creasy Springs Road around 10:20 p.m. His 1999 Chevrolet Suburban veered off a curve in the road and crashed into a tree.
Other drivers and people who lived nearby reported the accident and attempted CPR before authorities arrived. Robinson was taken to University Hospital, where he died at 10:53 p.m.
Deputy Brian Leer said the severity of the crash and damage to the vehicle indicated that speed might have been a factor. The speed limit at the scene of the crash is 35 mph, Leer said.
There were no passengers in the vehicle.
Missourian reporter Elliot Njus contributed to this report.
