Missouri regulators to discuss future energy plans

JEFFERSON CITY — Missouri utility regulators are to hear presentations about the state's energy future.

Environmentalists, the Department of Natural Resources and the state official who represents energy consumers before regulators plan to discuss future energy proposals Monday. It is likely to include discussion about proposed federal cap and trade legislation.

In June, utility company representatives expressed fears about carbon limits in a similar presentation to the Missouri Public Service Commission.

Commission Chairman Robert M. Clayton III says regulators need to urge those involved in energy to continue discussing future plans. Clayton says Missouri needs to start planning now for potential federal changes.
