COLUMBIA — A teen was stabbed twice in the midsection Monday afternoon after an altercation with another man in Boone County southwest of Columbia.
Terry Leon Butler Jr., 47, was charged with second-degree assault and armed criminal action in connection with the incident, which occurred at about 4:20 p.m. near the 4560 block of Southview Drive, according to a probable cause statement filed with the case.
The victim, 18-year-old Jamonte Cooper, left the immediate area after the incident and was later transported by EMS to a local hospital to be treated, according to the statement. The injuries were not considered life-threatening, Sgt. Mike Krohn Jr. of the Boone County Sheriff's Department said.
Butler and Cooper had been arguing about several incidents from previous encounters. They exchanged profanities and Cooper punched Butler in the face, according to the statement. Butler removed a small folding knife from his pocket and stabbed Cooper twice in the midsection, according to the statement.
Butler was being held in Boone County Jail on $104,500 bond as of Tuesday afternoon.
