MU women's soccer team defeats Northwestern in home opener

The Missouri women's soccer team beat Northwestern 2-0 in their home opener Friday night at Walton Stadium.
Missouri dominated possession for the majority of the first half with a total of eight shots on goal in comparison to Northwestern's five. The Tigers took the lead in the 31st minute when junior Kari Adam centered the ball to senior transfer Michelle Makasini, who scored her first career goal for the Tigers.

The Tigers' second goal was scored in the 79th minute when junior Alysha Bonnick beat out defenders on the right side and passed it off to senior Michelle Collins for the goal.
Despite five corner kicks and six shots on goal by the Wildcats in the last 10 minutes, the Tigers held on to their shutout and record of 2-0-0.
