Missouri cross country women have strong showing at meet

Missouri freshman Bailey Belvis won the four-kilometer race with a time of 14:10.09 in Southern Illinois University's Saluki Early Bird Invite in Carbondale, Ill.

Senior Ellen Ries and sophomore Aimee Bonte followed her with second and third place finishes. Senior Emily Baker placed sixth overall while freshman Chelsea Chrisman and junior Jessica Armstrong completed the Tigers’ top six placers, finishing in eighth and 13th.

Sophomore Kevin McKee finished in fifth place overall in the men’s race with a time of 19:55.60 on the six-kilometer course. Junior Aaron Dixon finished second for the Tigers and ninth overall with a time of 19:55.60. The remaining runners were freshman Hayden Legg finishing 14th, sophomore Blake Irwin finishing 20th, sophomore Stanton Ragland finishing 21st and junior Rick Scheff finishing 23rd.

There were no team scores kept at the event. Missouri’s next event will be the Missouri Cross Country Challenge  Saturday at A.L. Gustin Golf Course in Columbia.
