ST. LOUIS — A nonprofit organization that serves as a national adviser on health will discuss the future of medicine in St. Louis.
The Institute of Medicine will host a gathering beginning at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Washington University School of Medicine.
Doctors and researchers will talk about cancer and genes, as well as efforts to better understand the genetics of microbes and their effects on health.
The institute was chartered in 1970 as part of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences. Volunteer scientists provide peer review to better advise the nation on health issues.
