COLUMBIA — Deputies worked overtime from Aug. 21 through Monday to identify and arrest drunken drivers.

After a period of concentrated efforts to identify people who were driving while intoxicated, Boone County deputies arrested 26 people.

The efforts were part of the statewide campaign called "You Drink & Drive, You Lose." The heightened awareness period was funded by the Missouri Department of Transportation Highway Safety Division.

The 26 arrests occurred during regular and overtime shifts, Sgt. Brian Leer of the Boone County Sheriff's Department said.
