COLUMBIA — Paola Ampudia, a junior outside hitter on the Missouri women's volleyball team, was named Big 12 Conference Rookie of the Week.
Ampudia, who was also the Big 12 Preseason Newcomer of the Year, is the first Tigers volleyball player to receive the rookie honors. She recorded career-best totals in kills and attacks during last weekend's Michigan/Pepsi Challenge in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Ampudia posted 12 kills and 32 attacks in the Tigers' victory over Morehead State. She also had seven digs against Morehouse State, on her way to a total of 13 digs, 34 kills, and 10 total blocks for the weekend.
The Tigers, who also won tournament games against Virginia Commonwealth University and Fairfield University lost in the championship match against Michigan.
The Tigers will play next at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday at home against Kansas.
