HARRISBURG — Serious injuries resulted from a two-vehicle collision on Monday afternoon on Missouri 124.
At approximately 3:20 p.m., April Dodson, 36, of Harrisburg drove off the south side of the road near Highway YY and overcorrected herself. Her black Mitsubishi convertible struck an oncoming Jeep Cherokee, sending it into a ditch. The Jeep then crashed head-on into a tree.
Missouri State Highway Patrol Sgt. Matthew Broniec said Dodson was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car.
“Responders to the scene found the female face down on the roadway conscious and breathing but incoherent,” said Gale Blomenkamp from the Boone County Fire Protection District.
Dodson was airlifted by helicopter to University Hospital with serious injuries and was in critical condition Monday evening.
The driver of the Jeep Cherokee was Peggy Engleking, 45, of Harrisburg. Broniec said she was wearing a seat belt and was transported by ambulance to University Hospital with moderate injuries. She was listed in fair condition.
There were no passengers in either vehicle. Traffic was backed up for more than an hour on the two-lane highway.

What a horrific accident. I hope the victim in the Jeep is fine. I ask that the Highway Patrol investigate Ms. Dodson's extensive driving record. I hope Ms. Dodson does not drive on and roads in the U.S.A. again. We now have to put our trust in the Adult Court System.
The accident is terrible and I am praying for BOTH victims. Need not jump to conclusions at this point. Very heartless "Patricia".
I agree with Nicole. How terrible to leave such a comment. I am also praying for both families.
It was my relative she almost took out so leave your heartless comments to yourself.
Praying for the well being and swift recovery of all involved!
I do wish both of the injured persons a speedy and complete recovery.
