HARRISBURG — Serious injuries resulted from a two-vehicle collision on Monday afternoon on Missouri 124.
At approximately 3:20 p.m., April Dodson, 36, of Harrisburg drove off the south side of the road near Highway YY and overcorrected herself. Her black Mitsubishi convertible struck an oncoming Jeep Cherokee, sending it into a ditch. The Jeep then crashed head-on into a tree.
Missouri State Highway Patrol Sgt. Matthew Broniec said Dodson was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car.
“Responders to the scene found the female face down on the roadway conscious and breathing but incoherent,” said Gale Blomenkamp from the Boone County Fire Protection District.
Dodson was airlifted by helicopter to University Hospital with serious injuries and was in critical condition Monday evening.
The driver of the Jeep Cherokee was Peggy Engleking, 45, of Harrisburg. Broniec said she was wearing a seat belt and was transported by ambulance to University Hospital with moderate injuries. She was listed in fair condition.
There were no passengers in either vehicle. Traffic was backed up for more than an hour on the two-lane highway.

What a horrific accident. I hope the victim in the Jeep is fine. I ask that the Highway Patrol investigate Ms. Dodson's extensive driving record. I hope Ms. Dodson does not drive on and roads in the U.S.A. again. We now have to put our trust in the Adult Court System.
The accident is terrible and I am praying for BOTH victims. Need not jump to conclusions at this point. Very heartless "Patricia".
I agree with Nicole. How terrible to leave such a comment. I am also praying for both families.
It was my relative she almost took out so leave your heartless comments to yourself.
Praying for the well being and swift recovery of all involved!
I do wish both of the injured persons a speedy and complete recovery.
patricia,u need to get a life!Trust me,things are being done to make sure everybody gets what they need!Sounds like some people need to stay off the roads if they don't understand that accidents happen!
And to everyone that needs my life story, that is if you don't already know it!I have not had the best driveing record but,my license was still valid and still is!I never went on the road in hopes that i would kill someone, wreck my bran new car or possibly hurt my child. My childs father is a Boone County Sherriff and if he was worried about my driveing, mine and his child would not be rideing with me nor would i be driveing and trust me he does me no favors! My health has been affected substantually by this as well!I had a traumatic brain injury, eye socket was blew out, can't see in my right eye, nose tip was broke off.facial bones were broke, lungs were collapsed, and ribs were broken.I also was left with scarring on my face from deep lacerations,so don't think that this would be anything someone would do and not care about.I have no memorary and the medications from Rusk have messed up alot of things?I still can't be by myself!Excuse me if some of this a a tendenancy to boyher me a little!
They should have checked for blood alcohol and other intoxicating substances on both drivers.
