Missouri runners earn Big 12 honors

COLUMBIA — Missouri's Phillip King and Katie Vanatta were recognized as the Big 12 Conference Runners of the Week after impressive performances in the Missouri Cross Country Challenge on Saturday. This is the first time either has received the award.

King won the men's 8K in 25:46 and helped the Tigers to a second-place finish in the event.

In her first collegiate race, Vanatta won the women's 5K in 17:54. Teammates Ellien Ries and Bailey Belvis finished second and third, respectively.  

The Missouri cross-country team's next meet will be the Roy Griak Invitational on Sept. 26.
