Today's question: Should the Tour of Missouri continue?

The Tour of Missouri is in peril.

So believes Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder, a Republican who has made the bicycle race one of his main priorities. The tour is in its last year of a three-year contract, with no corporate title sponsor in sight. The event, which ended last week, draws world-class cyclists.

"I need your help to make sure we have a 2010 Tour of Missouri," Kinder said to the crowd at the Sept. 8 stage, according to The Associated Press.

Democratic Gov. Jay Nixon hasn't expressed much interest in seeing it continue. Earlier this year, he froze $1.5 million slotted for the race but backed down after he faced serious opposition.

And Nixon hasn't indicated what he would like to see happen with the race after the contract expires.

What are the solutions to keep the Tour of Missouri running for years to come?
