Freshman runner excels for Stephens

The Stephens cross-country team finished 40th at the Missouri Southern Stampede on Saturday in Joplin. 

Freshman Gracie Boelsems led the Stars with a 20:43 over the 5K course. Boelsems' time was the second best for the Stars' program, behind only former Stephens runner Julia Hanson who ran a 5K in 2007 in 20:34. 

The team returns to action Oct. 3 when it travels to Fayette to compete in the Gary Stoner Memorial.
