Columbia Police to meet Doisy murder suspect

COLUMBIA — Two Columbia police detectives are headed to Georgia to interview a murder suspect who was recently arrested on a 24-year-old warrant.
Sixty-five-year-old Johnny Wright is accused of the 1976 murder of former MU student Rebecca Doisy. The 23-year-old waitress disappeared in August 1976 and was last seen with Wright.

Police charged Wright with Doisy's murder in 1985 after Wright's former roommate said he saw the woman's body in Wright's car.
He was detained in suburban Atlanta last week after visiting the Lawrenceville police station seeking a criminal background check for a job application. Wright was arrested a day later after returning for his paperwork.
