KANSAS CITY — A man acquitted in a 2003 killing has been charged in a different killing.
The Kansas City Star reported that 30-year-old Ronald T. Taylor was charged Friday in Jackson County Circuit Court with second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the April shooting death of William E. Harmon.
Witnesses told police that the killing occurred while Taylor and Harmon were alone during an alcohol- and drug-fueled party.
Taylor was caught during a warrant sweep in which 200 investigators spent three days looking for wanted suspects and information in unsolved shootings and homicides.
His earlier aquittal stemmed from the death of 38-year-old John A. Menear. The prosecutors alleged Menear was killed during an attempted drug robbery, while the defense claimed self-defense.
