Police search for BP Eagle convenience store robbers

COLUMBIA – Columbia police are investigating the Sunday night robbery of a BP Eagle convenience store. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m.

The store is at 1704 N. Providence Road, just north of I-70.

According to Officer Jessie Haden, spokesperson for the Columbia police, this is what happened:

The 23-year-old clerk, who was in the back of the store, was alone when two men entered. One of the men used a black handgun to force the clerk to the front.

The suspects took several tobacco products from behind the counter and cash from the register after forcing the clerk to open the drawer.

The suspects then struck the clerk over the head a few times, forced him into the restroom and ran north.

The clerk suffered a laceration to the head.

The first suspect was described as a black male with a medium complexion in his early 20s, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and 140 pounds. He was wearing a yellow-hooded sweatshirt with orange flames, black pants and a dark towel held to his face.

The second suspect was described as a black male with a dark complexion in his early 20s, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and 200 pounds. He was wearing a black coat with a red or pink stripe on each side.
