Today's Question: Is there enough evidence to successfully prosecute Johnny Wright?

Thirty-three years after the disappearance of Becky Doisy, the man suspected of killing her was arrested last week in Georgia. Johnny Wright, 65, was located when he filed for a criminal background check as part of a job application. Authorities had not known where Wright was since issuing a warrant for his arrest in 1985.

But finding Wright was just the first challenge in the case. Investigators and prosecutors must now gather enough evidence to support a second-degree murder charge.

For one thing, there is still no physical proof that Doisy was murdered because her body has never been found. Wright was the last person to be seen with Doisy on the night of her disappearance in August 1976.

Last week, police located and interviewed Wright’s former roommate, Harry Moore. In 1985, after being charged with involvement in Doisy's murder, Moore told police he saw a body in Wright’s car on the night of Doisy’s disappearance. The charge against Moore was dropped and Wright was later charged.

Two Columbia police detectives also flew to Georgia to interview Wright last week. Wright declined to make a statement to the detectives. He is expected to be extradited from Georgia some time this week.

Investigators are still looking for other witnesses and evaluating evidence from the 33-year-old case
