COLUMBIA — Homecoming festivities begin this week for Rock Bridge and Hickman high schools. Following is a list of the week's events. The Missourian will be updating its K-12 education blog, Schoolhouse Talk, with pictures and stories documenting the activities throughout the week.
Rock Bridge Homecoming theme: 'Where the Wild Thing Are'
- Monday: “Reading with Ritter” — Milk and cookies will be served while Principal Kathy Ritter reads “Where the Wild Things Are.”
- Tuesday: Pajama Day — Homecoming queen candidates will take part in annual queen activities during B-lunch in the commons. The candidates are Kelsey Brockman, Adrienne Schmidt, Hannah Campbell, Taylor Lightner, Monique White, Georgie Zitsch, Heather Eaton, Lauren Croll and Victoria Yu.
- Wednesday: Imagination Day — Students will dress as their favorite childhood book characters. Queen candidates will continue their activities during B-lunch in the commons. The annual bonfire will be held at 7:30 p.m.
- Thursday: “Wild Thing” Day — Students will dress like monsters or wild things.
- Friday: “Wild About Rock Bridge” Day — Students will wear school colors. Assembly activities will include induction of four alumni into the Rock Bridge High School Alumni Hall of Fame. The parade has been canceled, and the football game is scheduled for 7 p.m. against Riverview Gardens.
- Saturday: The homecoming dance will be from 8 to 11 p.m. in the Rock Bridge cafeteria.
Hickman Homecoming theme: The Circus
- Monday: PJ Day — Float building will be from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Hickman commons.
- Tuesday: Retro Day — Homecoming car show will be from 3 to 3:30 p.m. in the lower lot at Hickman. Float building will continue from 3 to 5 p.m.
- Wednesday: Hipster Day — Homecoming queen candidates will host the annual charity fair during lunch hours. Float building will continue from 3 to 5 p.m. Queen candidate names were not immediately available on Monday.
- Thursday: International Day — The homecoming assembly and powder puff football game will be from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. at LeMone Field; parents are welcome. Float building will continue from 3 to 5 p.m.
- Friday: Spirit Day — The parade has been canceled , and the football game is scheduled for 7 p.m. against Gateway Tech.
- Saturday: The homecoming dance will be from 8 to 11 p.m. in the Hickman commons.
