JOPLIN — The faculty senate of Missouri Southern State University has passed a no-confidence vote against school President Bruce Speck.
In a secret ballot Monday, 21 of 26 members of the faculty senate approved the no-confidence vote.
The faculty senate scheduled another no-confidence vote for the entire faculty for Nov. 2.
After the meeting Monday, Speck said he was willing to try to resolve the faculty's disagreements with him.
Rod Anderson, chairman of the Missouri Southern Board of Governors, says he hopes Speck and the faculty can work out their differences instead of conducting a full no-confidence vote.
In a 23-count complaint, a faculty committee accused Speck of "failures of leadership, management, shared governance, judgment and public embarrassment."
