COLUMBIA – If you have some ideas about who deserves the 13th annual Columbia Values Diversity Awards, now is the time to nominate them.

The Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services is soliciting nominations for the awards, which recognize people, families and groups who make a significant impact on the community through their work promoting diversity and cultural understanding.

Nominees should be proponents of the teachings of Martin Luther King Jr. and demonstrate their support for individual dignity, racial equality and understanding, peacemaking and solving problems through nonviolence in their work.

Two awards will be presented, one to an outstanding person or family and one to a  group, at the 17th Annual Columbia Values Diversity Celebration on Jan. 14.

Nomination forms are available by calling 874-7488 (v) or 874-7356 (tty). They're also available online here.  The deadline for nominations is Nov. 27.
