Sex offender arrested after drug search

COLUMBIA — Matthew R. Olsson of Columbia was arrested on suspicion of distribution of a controlled substance Thursday, according to a Boone County Sheriff's Department news release. A registered sex offender, Olsson was also charged for providing false information, an offender registration statement showed.

Deputies served a search warrant in half of a residential duplex on Bethany Drive at 6:30 a.m. and, according to the release, found numerous items indicating cocaine distribution, including digital scales and packaging material. Deputies also reported finding a small amount of marijuana and cocaine.

The deputies reportedly discovered that Olsson, 31, was not living at his registered residence. He is being held without bond on a parole violation warrant issued after his arrest.
