COLUMBIA — The Missouri Department of Transportation is halting road work on Interstate 70 to facilitate traffic to the Missouri football game.
MoDOT will stop construction and maintenance work between Kansas City and St. Louis from noon Thursday until 6 a.m. on Friday to help speed traffic. The Missouri Tigers play the Nebraska Cornhuskers at 8 p.m. on Thursday at Memorial Stadium.
According to a news release on the MoDOT Web site, the pause is not expected to delay the completion of any of the projects on I-70.
Transportation officials are expecting heavier than normal traffic and said stopping road work should help traffic flow. Most MU football games are on Saturdays when there is little work on construction projects.
Travelers can check conditions on I-70 on Twitter or at kcscout.net. MoDot’s Web site also includes a Traveler Information Map, with road condition information.
