Mexico man arrested on suspicion of trafficking crack cocaine

A Mexico, Mo., man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of trafficking crack cocaine, resisting arrest, third-degree assault on a law-enforcement officer and driving with a suspended license, according to the Boone County Sheriff’s Department.

A news release stated that David Watson, 36, was pulled over by Sheriff’s deputies at about 4:40 p.m. Wednesday on the 1200 block of Player Place for displaying improper registration. The deputies asked Watson to leave the vehicle upon discovery of his suspended driver's license.

According to the release, Watson resisted arrest and assaulted two deputies before being subdued. The deputies searched his vehicle and found crack cocaine packaged for sale and distribution.

Watson’s bail is set at $106,000.
