Saturday events planned for Columbia College homecoming

COLUMBIA — Columbia College will celebrate "Family Day" and homecoming this Saturday with a variety of events. Most will be held on the campus, 1001 Rogers St. The schedule is as follows:

  • 5K run/walk for the Special Olympics, 8 a.m., Stephens Lake Park: The first 150 people to sign up will receive a free T-shirt.
  • Induction of day-campus junior and senior business majors by the Missouri Epsilon chapter of the Alpha Chi National College Honor Society, 10 a.m., Dorsey Chapel.
  • Stafford Library celebrates its 20th anniversary, 10:30 a.m, Stafford Library: Terry Smith, executive vice president and dean of academic affairs, will speak.
  • "Sweets of CC" competition among campus clubs and organizations, 11:30 a.m., Miller Hall lawn.
  • Live music, starting at 11:30 a.m., Miller Hall lawn.
  • Jane Froman Singers alumni reunion, followed by an informal singing session, 2 p.m., Atkins-Holman Student Commons lawn.
  • Music program open house, 3 p.m., Kirkman House.
  • Sporting events, including men's and women's basketball scrimmages, volleyball, soccer and alumni games, throughout the day, Southwell Complex.
