ST. LOUIS — A 32-year-old Missouri man has been indicted on a federal charge of making a threat to kill President Barack Obama.
The U.S. Attorney's office said Tuesday that Josh Randall McCallum mailed a letter with the threat in August, while he was incarcerated at the Northeast Correctional Center in Bowling Green. McCallum was scheduled to make a court appearance later this week.
The state Department of Corrections said McCallum has been incarcerated since 1999 and remains at the Bowling Green facility on tampering and burglary charges from southwest Missouri.
The charge of threatening to kill the U.S. president carries a penalty of up to five years in prison and up to $250,000 in fines.
