COLUMBIA — A school bus collided with a Chrysler PT Cruiser at the intersection of Stadium Boulevard and U.S. 63 late Tuesday afternoon, according to Columbia Police Department officer Andrew Muscato.
One student was on the bus at the time of the accident, and there were two passengers in the car. No one was injured, and both vehicles suffered only minor damages, Muscato said.
Because of the late afternoon rain and wet roads, First Student school bus 44 could not brake fast enough to avoid running into the back of the black PT Cruiser in front of it, Muscato said.
Muscato said he has seen several school bus accidents.
“That’s why they call them accidents – they can happen to anyone,” Muscato said.
The Police Department would not release the names of either driver.
