PrintCOLUMBIA — Police arrested a Columbia man after another customer was stabbed at the Black and Gold Bar early Wednesday morning after a disagreement over which song to play on the jukebox.
Police arrested Mark E. Hamlett, 50, on suspicion of armed criminal action, first-degree assault and second-degree assault.
Around 1 a.m., Hamlett and Stacey L. Johnson, 41, were arguing over what song should be played next on the jukebox at the bar, located on 2102 Business Loop 70 East, when they broke into a physical fight, said Detective Jeff Westbrook of the Columbia Police Department.
The men, both of Columbia, knew each other before the incident, police said.
The fight broke up for a few minutes, but then Hamlett approached Johnson and stabbed him about six times with a knife, Westbrook said.
Johnson was taken to University Hospital for his injuries, which were believed to be nonlife-threatening, police said.
