COLUMBIA — A celebration of women in film is planned for Stephens College this weekend.

The second annual Citizen Jane Film Festival begins Friday and ends Sunday at the college. The festival features workshops, panel discussions and appearances by directors, production staff and other movie insiders.

Organizers said the festival is needed to draw attention to the contributions of women in film while highlighting the hurdles they face. Sixteen percent of the top 250 domestic grossing films in 2008 featured female directors, producers, writers, cinematographers or editors.
