COLUMBIA — A two-car collision left one injured and backed up traffic for about 20 minutes Thursday night.

A tan Chevrolet Lumina was turning right off of Burlington Street to go east on Vandiver Drive when the Lumina’s breaks locked up, driver Joe Cole said. Cole then swerved into the lane of a green van heading west on Vandiver, and the cars collided head-on. Airbags deployed and debris from the crash was scattered on the road.

The female driver of the van was transported to Boone Hospital Center. Police did not have her name, and did not know if other passengers were in the van. Neither Cole nor his 2-year-old son were injured.

Police directed all eastbound traffic on Vandiver Drive to turn onto Burlington until the accident was cleared.
