Central Missouri hospital cans CEO for felony conviction in Illinois

BOONVILLE — Cooper County Memorial Hospital has fired its chief executive officer after discovering he was convicted of felony theft in Illinois.

The Boonville Daily News reported that Jeffrey Durham was convicted in late September of improper use of a corporate credit card at Massac Memorial Hospital in southern Illinois. Court records show that he paid more than $29,000 in restitution and a $1,000 fine in exchange for three related charges being dropped.

The misuse reportedly occurred in 2005 and involved $363 in meals and entertainment expenses.

Durham told the newspaper he would provide a prepared statement Monday after reviewing a Cooper County hospital news release announcing his termination.
