JEFFERSON CITY — Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon has picked the temporary head of the state Revenue Department to become the agency's permanent director.
Nixon announced the appointment of Alana Barragan-Scott on Friday. She has led the department since July after the former director was picked to be a judge on a state appeals court. Barragan-Scott's appointment must be confirmed by the Senate when it reconvenes in January.
Before joining the Revenue Department, Barragan-Scott worked for 15 years at the attorney general's office. She focused on complex litigation and appeals.
According to the governor's office news release, Barragan-Scott served as an adjunct professor for the University of Missouri law school from 2004 to 2009.
