COLUMBIA — Two traffic lights on Stadium Boulevard were out Tuesday afternoon at Maryland Avenue and Monk Drive, said Connie Kacprowicz, Columbia Water and Light representative.

A construction trench behind Truman Veterans Hospital collapsed on a transformer, pulling out the wires and causing the traffic lights to lose power.

Missouri Department of Transportation generators began powering the lights at around 3 p.m., worker Randy Vandeoicht said, while Water and Light sent crews to repair the transformer. Workers said the collapse was an accident, and no one was injured. The transformer should be repaired by around 7 p.m. Tuesday, worker Kevin Eggemeyer said.
