Plans to improve and expand the taxiway and runway system are the latest development for the airport, which statistics show is becoming an increasingly popular option for mid-Missouri travelers.
For just over a year now, Mesaba Air has provided service between Columbia and Memphis, Tenn. Flights out of Columbia are averaging 75 percent capacity, and total ridership for 2009 is on track to reach its highest point in seven years.
In the article, a couple Missouri-based travelers were asked what they liked about the airport and what they would like to see added or changed. City Council approval is the first step toward securing money for the runway project or any other future development.

I have no reason to fly to Memphis. Chicago, yes. Baltimore, yes. New York, yes. New Orleans? possibly. Memphis...why? St. Louis or KC? That's what MoX is for.
I would like for the city to stop having to subsidizing it.
