Police and fire department officers look on as a totaled Ford Escape is being prepared to be towed from Scott Boulevard. The Escape was hit as it pulled out of West Smith Drive on Wednesday.

COLUMBIA — A rollover accident on Scott Boulevard on Wednesday left two women with minor injuries.

A Ford Escape turning right off of West Smith Drive was hit by a Chevy traveling north on Scott Boulevard and toppled over onto its left side, police said. A Ford Mustang swerved to avoid the Chevy and hit the Escape.

"If an SUV like that is hit broadside, it is going to flip," Columbia Police Officer A. Bell said.

The two women in the Escape received minor injuries and were transported to University Hospital, Bell said.

The Escape and Chevy were towed away, but the Mustang was in working condition. Airbags deployed on all three vehicles, Bell said.
