The Boone County Fire Protection District board has said that the arrests of two sons of fire chief candidate Kenneth Craft Jr. won't affect their decision.

Kenneth M. “Casey” Craft III was arrested in Lee County, Fla. in March 2004 at age 17 on suspicion of burglary and theft. He was not convicted, according to court records.

Corey Craft, 19, was arrested April 7 on suspicion of five counts of third-degree theft, and on Sept. 22 he entered into a pretrial diversion contract, according to online court records.

“They’re just nonissues as to whether or not he can be our fire chief,” board member Shelly Dometrorch said. “It will not be entering into my vote, my decision.”

Craft is one of two candidates for the job.

Should the arrests affect the hiring decision? Would it make a difference in Craft's service as fire chief?
