COLUMBIA — The Boone County Sheriff's Department responded to a disturbance that reportedly included 10 people in the area of Bellview Drive and Bethany Drive at 9:50 p.m. on Friday, according to a release.
When the deputies arrived, a minivan was attempting to leave, dragging a female victim who was struck by the van, the release said. A man also punched another woman in the face.
The department said in the release that the driver of the van was identified as Arrington Lee Bowers, 43, of Columbia.
He was charged with one count of second-degree assault and one count of third-degree assault.
The two women who were assaulted did not receive serious injuries and were evaluated by medical personnel at the scene, according to the release.
Bowers was released from the Boone County Jail after posting a $5,000 bond.
The department said the likely reason for the fight was money owed for a damaged vehicle.
