COLUMBIA — Students at Fun City Youth Academy incorporated community service into their physical education hour on Saturday.
The youth academy has a community service project nearly every month, and for October, volunteers and 10 youth academy students picked up trash and recyclables at Douglass Park. After the cleanup, recreation time was held at the park's jungle gym.
"We are teaching them that they need to give back and keep the space that they have clean," Executive Director Barbara Walker said.
