COLUMBIA — The Columbia College volleyball team defeated American Midwest Conference opponent McKendree 25-13, 25-14 and 25-15 on Tuesday at Southwell Complex to improve to 13-0 in the league.
Maria Omondi and Monica Santos each had 11 kills to lead the Cougars (27-2), who are ranked No. 7 in the latest NAIA Top 25 poll. Julie Teeple added nine kills and two aces. Paula Ferreira added 36 assists and five kills. Cate Eckhardt chipped in a team high 11 digs and six kills.
Ferreira was named the AMC Volleyball Player of the Week for her role in four Cougars victories last week. Ferreira had 145 assists, averaging 12.1 per game. She also collected 19 kills and posted a .640 kill percentage. Ferreira also had 29 digs, nine service aces and eight blocks during the run.
Columbia College plays William Woods in another AMC game at 5 p.m. Thursday in Fulton.
