PrintThe Missouri football team opened its season 4-0 against Illinois, Bowling Green, Furman and Nevada.
But in the first quarter of the Oct. 8 game against Nebraska, sophomore quarterback Blaine Gabbert injured his ankle. And then the Cornhuskers pulled ahead, overcoming a 12-0 deficit through three quarters to win 27-12.
The next two games brought losses to Oklahoma State and Texas. And to make matters worse, Gabbert re-injured his ankle during the Texas game Saturday, and the backup quarterback, sophomore Jimmy Costello, played. Gabbert also visibly favored his other ankle during the games.
Gabbert and coach Gary Pinkel have assured fans Gabbert is fine, and Gabbert said unequivocally that he wants to play against Colorado on Saturday. Pinkel said after the Oklahoma State game that he wouldn't play Gabbert if the training staff said he shouldn't.
Should Gabbert play on Saturday? Which is better: an injured Gabbert or a healthy Costello?

Why not go with Gabbert coach pinkle, run him into the ground. Missouri have any scouts on the payroll?
Give this kid a rest and let him heal there's no reason to have him be a a martyr (a person who sacrifices something of great value and especially life itself for the sake of principle)
