It was a fine way to end the regular season.

The Columbia College men's soccer team beat Truman State 1-0 Sunday in Kirksville.

Yudai Yamaguchi scored the Cougars' only goal in the 25th minute, trapping a pass from teammate Lloyd Jacobs off his chest, turning and scoring. Goalkeeper Ken Searles had three saves for the Cougars, who finished the American Midwest Conference regular season in a three-way tie for first place. After the tie-breaker, Columbia College (13-4-1, 6-1) finished second and will take the No. 2 seed into the postseason tournament.
