Monday, November 2, 2009 | 10:54 p.m. CST

Not only did the Columbia College women's basketball team open the season facing the No. 1 ranked team in the NAIA, it had to do so on Union (Tenn.) University's home court.

The Bulldogs, the NAIA defending champions, kept their four-year home winning streak alive with a 96-69 victory against the Cougars on Monday.

Columbia College kept the game close in the first half, trailing 43-37 at halftime, but Union shot 60 percent in the second half while the Cougars shot 31 percent.

Columbia College's Denise Rosario scored 13 points, all in the second half.
