Clint Black will sing country chart toppers Wednesday
COLUMBIA – Country music star Clint Black will perform some of his top hits Wednesday night as part of the University Concert Series.
Black, who recorded the “Killin’ Time” album in 1989, has released multiple albums throughout his career. His 2008 EP included the songs “Long Cool Woman” and “The Strong One.”
“We started doing a couple of things in recent years that have had success,” said Kimberly Earnest, assistant director of the University Concert Series. “We’ve been reaching out to different audiences. There are a lot of country fans in mid-Missouri.”
Black, who has successfully charted more than 30 songs on the "Billboard Country" list, has also appeared in both film and television. In 1994, he played a small role in the Western-comedy "Maverick." He also offered his musical advice to contestants on the 2003 reality television series "Nashville Star."
Redirecting himself toward a younger generation, Black was a contestant on the 2008 television show "Celebrity Apprentice." Earnest said this recent appearance should bring a number of high-school and college-age concertgoers to the show.
"He has a lot of hits from the '90s, but I definitely think being on 'Celebrity Apprentice' brings him more spotlight and recognition," Earnest said.
Black will take the stage at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Jesse Auditorium. Tickets are on sale through the University Concert Series box office or online.
