Columbia College men's basketball team rolls in opener

COLUMBIA — In its first game of the season, the Columbia men's basketball team crushed Concordia Seminary 91-52 Tuesday night at Southwell Complex. 

Junior Jaron Strickland led the Cougars with 17 points, while Josh Davis and Chad Thompson scored 14 apiece. Reo Quarles pulled in seven rebounds to lead the Cougars and Greg Stegeman helped hold Concordia to 25 percent shooting from the field with five blocks. 

The Cougars, who are ranked No. 19 in the NAIA preseason poll, shot 57 percent and 41 percent from three-point range.  The Cougars outrebounded Concordia 45-35 and forced 22 turnovers. 

The Cougars' next game is against Central Bible College at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Southwell Complex.
