Stephens College basketball team loses first game of the season

COLUMBIA — The Stephens College women's basketball team came up short against Culver-Stockton losing 54-49 in its first game of the season Tuesday night at Silverthorne Arena.

Freshman guard Shelby Cearlock and senior forward Tia LaFavor scored 11 points each in the loss.

Junior center Jamai Letcher led the Wildcats with 18 points, helping Culver-Stockton pull ahead from a 20-20 halftime tie. 

The Stars return to the court at 5 p.m. Friday when they travel to St. Louis to face Manhattan Christian in the St. Louis Pharmacy Tournament.
