Gordon Duff, staff writer and senior editor of Veterans Today, and my e-mail “buddy,” is a hoot to read. His stories of conspiracy are currently my favorite. Gordon has 9/11 conspiracies, Afghan, Iran and Iraq conspiracies, and the list goes on. Fortunately, not all of his readers take the same extreme stance. Some even appear to be voices of reason, but these voices are few and far between.
Gordon’s article was posted a few hours after the killings at Fort Hood, Texas, were reported by the national news. I do agree with his assessment of the act itself – this was an act of terrorism.
However, if you read carefully you will find that Gordon is possibly not only a true anti-Semitic but may also be prejudiced against Muslims, all of the Arab nations, Iranians, Iraqis and most of the North African nations. Perhaps he is anti-government, just choosing which has angered him the most that day. Ah, an anarchist at his best.
Gordon trusts no one but himself. “The most important thing for us (the readers) to realize is that this (Veterans Today) is the only straight talk you are going to get. Every word (from the government) from here on will be a lie.”
The problem with VT and other conspiracy sites is they feed off each other, provide no support or proofs, and the “conspiracies” are easily debunked. However, because the government and all of its cronies and agents lie, believe no one.
One responder, Robert Laity, wrote, “‘WE are at war with Islam’: http://edocket.access.gpo.gov/2009/E9-2488.htm.”
Pull up his reference and you read that President Obama is providing $20.3 million to aid the “humanitarian needs of the Palestinian refugees and conflict victims in Gaza.”
That does not sound like we are at war with Islam. Quite the contrary.
It is nice to know that Gordon’s sole target is not just bleeding-heart liberals. It is everyone associated with, well, almost anything. He even refers to our former vice president as “ChaneyBusyChimp.” How cute.
If it were so easy for the government to cover up its wrongs, then Nixon and Agnew would have remained in Washington, D.C., until Jan. 20, 1976. Clinton would not have been impeached because he really did not “have sexual relations with that woman.” We would have never known that J. Edgar Hoover liked to put on party dresses in public. Or did he?
Yes Gordon, “the truth is out there,” but without a fair and open investigation, as well as some very good critical thinking, even (or especially) your commentary needs to be questioned.
Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan is, for the time being and until proven otherwise, an American soldier and citizen that for reasons still unknown killed and wounded 43 of his fellow soldiers at Fort Hood, Texas. At the time of this writing, we know little more.
Do not convict anyone until you have all of the evidence that can be recovered. Simply saying “Muslim, psychiatrist, gun” does not immediately make Maj. Hasan an extreme-Islamic terrorist.
Enough said.
