The Beat: Tweeting breaking news

COLUMBIA — During Tuesday's incident in Jefferson City, which was first believed to be a hostage situation, the social networking site Twitter proved to be a main outlet for news coming from the capitol. The Columbia Missourian updated its own Twitter feed to provide breaking news as the situation transpired.

Columbia Missourian reporters Elliot Njus and James Patrick Schmidt joined KBIA's Eric Durban on "The Beat" to discuss the process behind the tweets.
